The latest Coronavirus restrictions on weddings have come as a blow for couples and wedding suppliers alike. Whilst the new limit of 15 people on weddings may not be ideal, unfortunately it is currently the reality. I’m a firm believer in making the best of what you have – just because your wedding is smaller it doesn’t have to mean it can’t be just as amazing! Here’s a few tips on how to make your intimate wedding go with a bang.
Find a small, but unique venue
Since you no longer have hundreds of guests to accommodate for your big day, why not consider a smaller venue? There are hundreds of smaller wedding venues throughout the UK that will work perfectly for an intimate wedding. For my Essex brides why not check out Rayleigh Windmill? Use your excess budget for statement features
Fewer guests means less mouths to feed, which equals lower costs for catering etc. Savings in these areas could free up room in your budget for items you may not have been able to afford with a larger wedding. That statement floral display you couldn’t quite stretch to? That musician you wanted to hire? Whatever it may be that had to be sacrificed with a larger wedding, see if your budget can be re-jigged to treat yourself to one of these things to make the day extra special. Use your intimate wedding as an excuse to spend time with your nearest and dearest
A smaller guest list means you will have more time to spend with those who are most important to you. No longer will you have to spend time making small talk with Great Aunt Doris, who you have only met once in your life! In a time of social distancing and self isolation, your intimate wedding is the perfect excuse to spend well needed time with the family and friends who REALLY mean the most to you.
Think up some alternative entertainment ideas
Entertaining hundreds of guests is a whole different ball game to entertaining a small handful of guests. Perhaps your original idea of boogieing into the small hours may no longer be possible, but that doesn’t mean your wedding can’t be packed full of fun! From close up magicians, string quartets or even games that can be played on tables with your guests. There are plenty of options to inject a bit of fun into your day.
Focus on creating some really personal, intimate details
Smaller often means more personal, so take the opportunity to add as much of your personalities into your intimate celebration as possible. This can encompass a whole manner of things, but to name a few why not design your own cocktails, have some really personal table decorations designed or think up something unique for your speeches? If your budget allows, look into hiring a photographer who really knows their stuff, so all these personal touches can be captured in your wedding photos forever.
