Natural bridal makeup ideas for your wedding day.

If you’re not usually much of a makeup wearer, figuring out how you want your bridal makeup can be quite a daunting task. Even if you type natural bridal makeup into a lot of searches, you will be served with ideas that are usually quite heavy and glam. But what if that just doesn’t feel like you? Don’t panic, you DON’T need to wear heavy makeup just because it’s your wedding day! Applied correctly, natural makeup will still look beautiful both in person and in your wedding photos. Here are a few of my favourite natural bridal makeup looks I’ve created for my client’s weddings.

Naturally Enhanced Eyes

The beauty of natural bridal makeup is that it can be designed to subtly enhance your features. Lots of my clients love to enhance their eyes, which can be done by choosing the correct tones, colours and placement of products. This is a really lovely example of a look I created that enhanced my clients eyes, whilst keeping things natural.

Glowing, Natural Skin

Despite what a lot of people will say, you don’t need to wear full coverage makeup for your wedding if you don’t want to. This client was blessed with a naturally even skin tone, and she didn’t like the feeling of heavy foundation so we opted for a lightweight, sheer base and her makeup looked natural, radiant and beautiful. If you feel like you need coverage in certain areas, that can still be added on to a natural base with a more full coverage concealer.

Modern Matte Eyes

Eye makeup that’s more on the subtle side has definitely been a trend for the past year or so (and it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere). One way of doing this is to ditch the shimmer, keep the eyes matte and subtle, and have a gorgeous, radiant base be the main focus of your bridal makeup. My client’s bridal makeup here looks modern, natural and it really enhances her features.

A Natural Pop of Colour

If you like a bit of colour in your makeup, that can still be incorporated into natural bridal makeup. For this gorgeous client we paired a pop of pink on her lips with a matching blusher which really suited her. To make sure her makeup still stayed natural, I created a glowing finish to the skin and used a soft shimmer on her eyes so the overall look is still subtle and natural.

The Barely There, Natural Makeup

If you really aren’t used to wearing makeup, you might just want super subtle enhancements so it’s not obvious you’re wearing makeup at all for your wedding day. For this gorgeous client we focused on keeping the makeup as subtle as possible, so she was camera ready but didn’t feel too far from her natural self. If this isn’t proof that natural bridal makeup looks good, I don’t know what is!

Makeup Personalised To You

This gorgeous client didn’t want heavy makeup, but she still wanted to add in traditional cultural elements to her bridal makeup look. We kept the main focus of the look as her eyes with a pop of gold, and added the traditional tikka. However as she didn’t like heavy makeup we kept her skin very natural and glowy, which is less traditional for Indian bridal makeup. I think we nailed the fusion of the two!

The options really are endless for bridal makeup, even if you want to keep it natural. If you’re not comfortable wearing heavy makeup, then don’t feel pressured to just because it’s your wedding day. Natural bridal makeup in itself is quite an art though, so finding a makeup artist that specialises in natural makeup is the best way to go!
