Bridal Hair Ideas for Natural Curls

If you have naturally curly hair, chances are you’ll have had a bit of a struggle trying to find bridal hair ideas for your natural curls. So many stylists default to straightening out your beautiful hair texture, meaning inspo pics are limited. Personally, I love nothing more than showcasing my client’s natural curls and hair textures, so here are a few bridal hair ideas for your natural curls!

Curly Low Updo

Here’s a curly bridal updo I created for one of my previous bridal clients, Namita. Namita had fine, type 3 curls and wanted an updo with as much definition from her curls as possible. I finger coiled each curl before diffusing and then styling into the updo. It was a labour of love but definitely worth the effort in my opinion.

Voluminous Half Up

My bride Melinda had the most thick, beautiful head of curly hair - understandably she wanted to make the most of it for her wedding! We settled on a half up half down style, and I used a small wand to define each of her natural curls. Time was a big factor on Melinda’s wedding morning, so we opted for heat styling instead of wet styling as it was much quicker (especially as Melinda has a lot of hair!).

Wavy Bridal Chignon

I created this naturally curly updo during a model session - my model had fine, shoulder length natural waves. As I didn’t have tonnes of hair to work with, I brush styled and diffused the hair getting as much volume from it as possible. When styling the updo, I used a small piece of padding under the chignon to give the hairstyle more body and shape.

High Piled Curly Updo

My client Jess has gorgeous type 2 waves, and a good amount of them! We wanted a romantic looking style, that sat high on the head. I styled her hair using a wand to define her waves and curls, then placed each curl into the pile on top of her head. I loved how this style came out, I think it has a fairytale, Bridgerton-esque feel to it, that would look incredible for a bride with natural curls. Natural Textured Half Up

You really can’t go wrong with a half up half down for naturally curly bridal hair in my opinion - what better way to showcase your gorgeous curls! This style is quite similar to how I styled Melinda’s half up half down above, but it’s an example of how this style can look on medium thickness, colour treated curly hair.
